Beloved,
As a born again person you have right standing with God. God justifies you on the basis of the same faith by which he justified Abraham. In this Part IV of our study of the Book of Romans, we see how all of us who put our faith in Christ are children of Abraham. If Abraham was justified by his works then he would have something to boast about, but not before God.
We too who have received God’s free gift of right standing have nothing to boast about, precisely because our righteousness is of the Lord and not of us. God declared Abraham righteous on the basis of his faith. We too are declared righteous on the basis of our faith in Jesus.
