Daily Devotional: Day 18
“For whatsoever things were written aforetime were for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope” (Romans 15:4; KJV).
The Bible is God’s Word written to you. It’s God’s gift to you, to instruct you in the way of life. Therefore, you ignore the Bible at your own risk. Remember this: Satan doesn’t want you to know the Bible or to follow its doctrine, because the Scriptures will make you wise, strong, enlightened and free from Satan’s lies. Be thankful for the Bible. Today’s verse tells us that everything written in the Scriptures is for our learning. It is said that knowledge is power. Well, your heavenly Father wants to empower you through knowledge of the Scriptures. Nothing compares to this knowledge. As you receive and heed God’s instructions in the Bible, you position yourself to walk in the blessings of the Word. There’s no useless or irrelevant knowledge in the Bible. If there’s one book you must invest your time and resources in, it’s the Bible. It’s your book of life.
In this world, you need hope – a lot of hope. But we know that the world can’t offer you lasting hope. God alone gives you dependable supernatural hope. He does this by blessing you with the patience and comfort of the Scriptures. As you receive instruction from the Scriptures, God blesses your heart with patience and comfort. That’s the secret. If you let God’s Word penetrate your heart, it will surely bless you. In times of hardship, you’ll not lose your calm, for your heart will overflow with God’s peace and comfort. Be a student of God’s Word and see your life change.
Pray:
Dear Father, thank you for the Bible. Thank you for the treasures of wisdom in your Word. Make me a humble and diligent student of your Word. And fill my heart with hope through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.
