Daily Devotional: Day 19
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not” (Jeremiah 33:3, KJV).
“Sorry, all our operators are currently busy. You’re caller number 22 . . ..” You’re probably familiar with the nuisance of busy telephone lines. One day in France, I saw someone in a T-shirt. And written on the T-Shirt were the following words of Satan: “God is busy. Can I help you?” Satan the liar! Today, the Father wants you to know that he is not busy. He’s available to answer your calls 24/7 – for all eternity. With God, you’re not caller number 22; you’re always caller number 1. He has given you everlasting unrestricted access to him (Read Ephesians 2:18). Notice from today’s verse that God doesn’t give you a specific time to call him. The fact is, God has no office hours, because he’s always available for you. Besides, you don’t have to go through loops to speak to him. You have his full attention every time, for all time. Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. Don’t let anyone deceive you into thinking that God is too holy and you are too sinful to deal with him directly. You’re under a new covenant. So, there’s been a change. The truth is, when Jesus died on the Cross for you, he cut out the middle man: priests, daily sacrifices, reconciliation rituals, etc. The tearing of the Temple veil is evidence of this (Read Matthew 27: 51).
Determined to deprive people of the truth, Satan today is posing as the middle man between people and God. He does this through false prophets and antichrists who twist the Bible to control unsuspecting worshippers. Satan will give you all the reasons why you shouldn’t deal with the Father directly. He’ll suggest alternative routes to get to your Father. His goal is to convince you that you’re not good enough or worthy enough. If he can persuade you to believe this, then he has you. And the sad part it, you won’t even know that he has you. Cut out the middle man. Deal with your Father directly. Jesus has opened the way for you. Whatever you’re going through, your Father has given you specific instructions. He says, “Call on me.” He didn’t say, “Call my secretary and my secretary will connect you to me.” God has neither secretaries nor extension numbers. Go to him when you want, where you want, and as you are.
Confess:
By the mercies of God, I know the truth now. I know that my heavenly Father loves me with an everlasting love. Thanks to the blood of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, I deal directly with my Father. I cut out the middle man. By the authority I have in the Name of Jesus, I reject every lie I’ve been told about my Father. I know that I have a good Father who is on my side. I’m his number 1. Amen.
