Daily Devotional: Day 46
“For we are his [God’s] workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10, KJV).
Today’s Scripture describes who born-again people are, and to what purpose the Father has created them. The word “workmanship” used here means “that which is made.” It refers to the finished product of an artist or craftsman. If you’re born again, the Bible is saying that God is a master artist who has skillfully designed and created you. Take time to think about this and imagine an artist at work. Imagine the artist’s workshop and the love, care and attention that goes into producing a piece of art. Now return to today’s Bible verse and look at it one more time. Every detail in the verse is significant; and if you’re born again, it’s important to understand what this means for you. (If you’re not born again, or you’re not sure where you stand, respond to this email and let us know how we may help you). After stating that you’re God’s workmanship, the Bible lets you also know from what you are created. It says, you’re created in Christ Jesus.
Through his resurrection, Jesus became the last Adam (Read 1 Corinthians 15:22, 45) and the head of the new creation. For a person to be saved, he must be found in the last Adam, for outside of Christ, there’s no eternal life or salvation. Every artist creates from something. In our case, the Bible says that we’re created in Christ Jesus. This means Christ is the “substance,” so to speak, from which we are created. Therefore, you and Christ are alike; you possess his divine character, and you can successfully execute your mission in life just as Jesus did. Today’s Scripture also says that you’re created unto good works. This is your purpose. You’ve become a new creation to fulfill this destiny. The final part of today’s message says that God has already prepared the good works for us to walk in them. As God’s new creation, you’re not created for a sinful life. You’re designed, built and equipped to walk in righteousness. The Holy Spirit now guides you with the light of God’s Word – the Bible – so that you can walk in the good works the Father has prepared for you. As you feed on God’s Word in the Bible, it becomes natural for you to live in holiness. This is your real life in Christ. Embrace it, and fulfill your destiny.
Pray:
Daddy, I bless you for your grace and tender mercies. Thank you for the forgiveness I have in the blood of Jesus. Thank you for the new life in Christ. Grant me a spirit of wisdom and of revelation to know you more and to understand your purpose for my life. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.
