The Angel Who Surrounds You

Daily Devotion|Day 243

“The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them” (Psalm 34:7, KJV).

The fear of the Lord is a constant theme in the Bible. You can do a whole study on it. With the fear of God comes many benefits. Today, the Bible tells us one of the many blessings God showers on those who fear Him. You can do a whole study on the theme of ‘blessings’ also. Remember that God created you because He loves you. Part of loving you is to give you divine protection.

The Psalmist reveals that the angel of the LORD encamps round about those who fear Him, and delivers them. Think about it for a moment. The Bible is specific in its choice of words. First, it tells us about the presence of an angel. It further reveals the nature of the angel’s presence. According to the Bible, the angel has set up camp in your life. In other words, he is stationed in your life to watch over you. He is not merely around for a day or two. Rather, he has set up camp in your life to be with you all the time, as you walk with God.

Another detail in the passage is that the angel surrounds you completely – round about (think circle). This means all angles in your life are covered.

Finally, the angel’s assignment is to deliver you. If anyone wishes to harm you, they must first deal with the angel. This is a blessing the Lord gives to all who fear Him. It’s amazing. Think about what would happen if you were always aware that God’s angel surrounds you (like a circle) and is working for your good. If the angel can surround you, it means he is huge and has been given a lot of power to do his work.

Walk in the fear of the Lord. Be aware that God’s angel surrounds you. You are not alone. Stay calm, for someone mighty is fighting for you.

May the Lord bless you and cause His face to shine on you! Amen.
